Abstract
486,072. Books; book covers. MAYOL, P. M. Oct. 8, 1937, No. 27439. [Class 16] The cover of a book is provided on one or each half thereof with at least one flap portion 4 on the inner face of which is hing- edly carried a strip 8 of stiff or semi-stiff material having a design or pattern thereon, which strip is also connected to the cover in such a manner that, when the flap 4 is opened, the strip 8 is caused to lie substantially parallel to the plane of the pertaining cover half and in spaced relation thereto. As shown, the flap 4 is cut from the cover half 1, and the strip 8 is secured in a position a short distance from the hinge of the flap by a piece of adhesive paper 9 which is attached to the strip 8 and flap 4 at one end and to the lining 6, 7 of the cover half at the other. A finger recess 5 in the cover half 1, or a short tab on the flap 4, facilitates the opening of the flap 4. The strip 8 shown represents a figure, and the lining 6, 7 is cut and coloured to represent a background for the figure.
