Abstract
485,820. Operating-tables. SCHAERER AKT.-GES., M. July 17, 1937, No. 19857. Convention date, July 17, 1936. [Class 52 (iii)] In an operating-table having a top comprising parts 14, 15, 16 tiltable relatively to each other and as a whole relatively to the table support, a separate hydraulic cylinder with a control cock is provided to effect each tilting motion, the hydraulic pressure being supplied from a previously charged pressure container. The support 1 comprises a container from which liquid may be pumped by a hand pump 2 through a valve 6 to a cylinder 3 to raise a piston 7 on which the table is supported. A pedal 13 operates a release valve 10 through a lever 64 to lower the table. The piston 7 is hollow and forms the pressure-container, being fed from the pump 2 through the valve 6 when turned to the position shown and a pipe 8 lying in the axis of the cylinder 3 and over which the piston 7 makes a sliding joint. Raising can also be effected by turning the valve 6 into a position establishing connection between the pressure-container 7 and the cylinder 3. The seat part 14 of the table is fixed by four columns 26 to a ring 21 with two pivot pins 22 in the longitudinal axis of the table engaging a second ring 20 having two pivot pins 19 lying transverse to the table and engaging a disc 18 fixed to a column 17 integral with the piston 7. Ring 20 has a depending bow 23 carrying by a ball joint 24 a cylinder 25 the piston of which is connected with the ring 21 to effect lateral tilting. A cylinder 31 connected by a ball joint 32 with the piston 7 has its piston connected with the outer ring 21 to effect longitudinal tilting about the pivots 19. Further cylinders 27, 28 connected between the ring 21 and foot plate 15 and back plate 16 enable these plates to be separately inclined relatively to the seat plate. A head rest 33 adjustable by hand is fixed to the back rest 16. The cylinders 25, 27, 28, 31 each comprise an outer cylinder 34, Fig. 8, in which slides an inner cylinder 35 formed as a piston at 36, and a piston 37 with rod 38 sliding within the inner cylinder 35. The space 42 above the piston 36 is in communication with the space 45 above the piston 37 by a passage 44 in the wall of the inner cylinder 35 and the pressure supply and exhaust through the pipes 49, 50 may be reversed by the control cock for positive movement in either direction. The four cocks are mounted on a control board 46 and each has five radial bores 55 .. 59 and a longitudinal groove 60. In the off position of each cock the corresponding cylinder is held in its adjusted position. Instead of the hand pump 2 a pressure accumulator or a motor driven pump may be used. A throttle 65 in the exhaust pipe 54 controls the speed of the table movements.
