Abstract

718,803. Vehicle fittings; load handling appliances. MYHRE, W. Jan. 7, 1953, [Jan. 8, 1952.] No. 542/53. Classes 78 (3) and 78 (4). A hoisting crane for permanent mounting upon a vehicle chassis comprises a rotary chamber 4, mounted upon the top of a supporting column 3, having an inlet and an outlet for pressure fluid and provided with an extending bracket 5 adapted to pivotally support an end of the hoisting arm 7, and within the supporting column a tiltably supported hoisting cylinder 8 having an inlet and outlet for pressure fluid and a piston with piston rod 10 attached to the hoisting arm and adapted to move the arm in a vertical plane. The chamber 4 has end curved parts 29 engaging over balls 30 and curved parts 31 on a plate 32 on the top of the column to allow rotation but not axial movement. As shown in Fig. 2, fluid is supplied to the hydraulic cylinder 8 from a reservoir 12. The fluid is forced by a pump 13 to a valve 15 which if set for raising or lowering the arm 7 allows fluid to pass to below or above the piston 9 according to the setting of a two way valve 17. For slueing the arm the valve 15 is set to admit fluid to pipe 20 and thence by valve 21 or 22 to pipe 23 or 24 which admits fluid to either side of a fixed partition 27 on the column. The chamber 4 has a vane 28 to effect slueing.
