Abstract

485,702. Endless-chain conveyers. MEYER, G. L. N. April 15, 1937, No. 10798. Convention date, Dec. 9, 1936. [Class 78 (i)] Each load carrier is formed as a substantially channel-shaped member having slots or corrugations transversely across the web and the portion of the legs adjacent to the web. Apertures 29, Fig. 4, are punched in a sheet 25, and the edges bent along the lines 27, 28 to a position substantially at right-angles to the centre. Plates 35, Fig. 2, are fixed across the bottom of the channel member and are connected by bolts 45 to ears 43 extending outwardly from the links of endless chains 21. The articles are discharged on to plates 60 which are pivoted loosely at 64 to a bracket on the machine framework, and have ribs 61 on their underside which project into the slots 29. Tapering fingers 62 at the ends of the ribs lie below the upper surface of the load carriers. The articles are pushed over the plate 60 by the pressure of succeeding articles on to a transverse conveyer 66. Any articles which this conveyer cannot accommodate are pushed on to a similar conveyer 67, and those displaced from this latter conveyer are received on a shelf 68. In a. modification the carriers are formed by corrugating a flat sheet and bending down the edges as before. In a further modification the carriers are made by casting.
