Abstract

485,691. Look - - out reflectors for vehicles. PUCKERT, E. W. Feb. 4, 1937, No. 3347. [Class 103 (ii)] [Also in Group XXV] Relates to double-sided mirrors which are mounted so that either reflecting-surface may be brought into use. As shown, a mirror comprises two mirror elements 1, 2, having different reflecting characteristics, which are secured in back-to-back relationship with a space between them by two U-shaped clips 4, 5 which engage opposite edges of the elements and are drawn together by bolts 7 and nuts 9, 10, strips of insulation tape 11 being provided in the clips to ensure an even bed for the elements. The clip 5 is integral with a hollow open-ended boss 12 which forms part of a socket co-operating with a ball 13 on the end of an arm 14 hinged at 15 to the vehicle. The mirror elements are spaced apart by tongues 6 on the clip 4 and a metal plate 8 which is shaped to provide part of the socket for the ball 13. The mirror elements may be plane or convex and silvered with different mediums to provide night and day reflecting-surfaces.
