Abstract
485,668. Handling transferable load containers. SCOFFIN & WILLMOTT, Ltd., and LEWIN, P. W. Nov. 26, 1936, No. 32442. [Class 78 (iv)] In a detachable load-carrying platform for a vehicle of the kind provided with a number of antifriction members 6 and with feet 4 of such length that an elevating truck can be positioned beneath it, a fixed stop 7 and a movable stop 8. are provided to prevent displacement of the load. The stop 8 is in the form of a cross-bar with depending legs 9, Fig. 3, which are pivoted at 10 to the platform. A spring 16 connected to one of the legs and to the platform tends to maintain the stop in inoperative position, but when the stop is raised, it is held by the engagement of a crank 12 with a notch 11 formed in its end. The crank is released by pressing the pedal 15 downwardly against the resistance of a spring 17. The load 1, which may be a package, bin, board, or the like, is provided on its underside with four longitudinal rails 19, the inner pair of which rests on the rollers 6, and the outer pair of which bear against corresponding rails 20 on the parts 2.
