[Class 40 (iv)] [Also in Group XL] In a repeater station for multi-channel carrier telephony of the kind in which a spare amplifier is automatically connected up on failure of the main one, the outputs of both amplifiers are permanently connected in series, one being short-circuited by a contact s controlled by the condition of the main amplifier. The spare amplifier may be normally only partially operative and the change-over of contact s may be delayed until it is fully operative.
