Abstract

185,428. Siemens & Halske Akt.-Ges. Sept. 5, 1921, [Convention date]. Manual exchange systems; repeating and amplifying systems.-Low-frequency calling or other signalling currents are superposed on a carrier-wave whose frequency lies in the range of speech frequencies, so that when transmitted over a system employing amplifiers which are particularly efficient for speech frequencies, no special modification of the amplifiers is neces. sary. The nodulated carrier-wave is converted back to low-frequency at the receiving station and operates a low-frequency signal receiver. Different carrier or modulating frequencies may be employed for different signalling purposes, for example, for lighting and extinguishing valve amplifiers as the different repeating stations or for calling up a repeating station. The signalling key may be arranged to control the generation of both the carrier-wave and the low-frequency signals.
