Abstract

492,006. Automatic exchange systems. LORENZ AKT.-GES., C. Nov. 19, 1937, No. 31893. Convention date, Nov. 20, 1936. [Class 40 (iv)] [Also in Group XL] In a carrier current signalling system, speech and ringing signals are separated by transmitting speech on a modulation band of 300 to 2400 cycles, the carrier frequency fo being suppressed, and ringing signals on a modulation band of 0 to 300 cycles without suppression of the carrier frequency fo so that the two signals may be separated at the receiver by filters, one having a pass range of fo + 300 to fo + 2400 and the other a pass range of fo + 300. Carrier current from the generator 1 is modulated in the modulator 2 by speech currents from the device 3, and, after suppression of the carrier frequency in the modulator 2 or the filter 4, is fed to the line a, b over an amplifier 5. Ringing signals in the form of interruptions, e.g. dialling impulses, or unmodulated carrier current or of carrier current modulated with a continuous or interrupted audio-frequency of 0-300 cycles, are generated in the device 6 and fed to the line over the amplifier 5. After passing the amplifier 7, the received signals are separated by the filters 8 and 9 with passing ranges of fo+300 to fo+2400 and fo+300 respectively. The speech signals are demodulated in the device 10 and the calling signals are impressed upon a responsive device 11.
