[Class 40 (iv).] In a system in which telephony A and carrier telegraphy B are transmitted over a common channel C, the voltage of the telephone signals is limited by means 4 such as a discharge device in order to prevent the formation at loading or repeater points in the common channel of harmonics lying within the telegraphic band. The limiting means 4 is preferably inserted prior to the filter 2 in order to suppress any harmonics which it may itself produce.
