Abstract

152,190. Smart, J. H., and Tucker, J. Sept. 23, 1919. Thermionic relays and repeaters.-In an amplifying system employing two threeelectrode valves for telegraphic recorders, relays, and telephones, the grid g<1>, Fig. 1, of the valve P is connected to line, the anodes a<1>, a<2> of the valves P, Q to the battery B, the earthed filament j' of the valve P to the grid g<2> of the valve Q, and the filament f<2> of the valve Q to the battery through a recorder R. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2 the normal current from the battery B through the valves P, Q and receiver R is balanced by a current from the battery B<1> through the resistancer<1>. The two valves may be combined in one unit.
