[Class 28 (i)] In a wafer cup or cone making machine of the general type described in Specification 134,641, [Class 28 (i)], wherein each mould unit comprises a mould and a hinged top arm co-operating therewith, the mould and top arm are furnished with co-operating registration surfaces lying above the level of the batter within the mould, the said surfaces ensuring accurate clearance and centring of the arm with respect to the mould. As shown, the part A is mounted to rotate with the carrier (not shown) about the centre post of the machine, and is provided with lugs A<1> carrying a vertical pin B on which the two separable mould parts B<1>, B<2> can pivot. The arm C is connected by a horizontal pivot C<1> to the part A, and is provided with a slot C<2> through which the pin B projects. Depending parts F on the arm C have V-shaped recesses F <1> with flat bottoms F<2> which engage correspondingly shaped ribs G on the mould parts B<1>, B<2>, this engagement producing the accurate centring. Centring is assisted by the engagement of shallow rims D<3> to which the cores Dare secured by bolts D<1>, with the mouths of the mould cavities. In a modification, the recesses F<1> and the ribs G have vertical inner faces. The registration surfaces may be provided on one side only of the mould and arm, and they may be of any desired length. The surfaces may be arranged transversely to the length of the unit, and ribs on the arm may engage grooves in the mould parts B<1>, B2. The cups produced may be shallow or deep, of elongated, polygonal or circular section and may have straight or curved side walls of either con. tinuous, basket or perforated form.
