Abstract
483,311. Delivering measured quantities of liquids. TRITSCH, D. T., and THEO & CO., Ltd. Oct. 15, 1936, Nos. 27977 and 27978. [Class 106 (v)] [Also in Group XIX] Apparatus for selectively delivering measured quantities of a number of different liquids is provided with a series of integrating meters 83 one for recording the quantity of each liquid delivered, each meter being connectible to a driving member 90 having an operative connection with a part of the measuring apparatus having a movement proportional to the quantity delivered, with a series of driven members 93 coupled to the meters and with means operated in synchronism with the selector mechanism for bringing into driving engagement the driven and driving members of the meter for measuring the particular liquid selected. A shaft 84 adapted to be rotated by an amount proportional to the quantity of liquid delivered has fixed thereto clutch parts 90 the other parts 91 carrying toothed wheels 93 meshing with wheels 94 fixed to the meter spindles. The clutch parts 91 are moved axially by means of members 99 axially movable on a shaft 97. As shown in Fig. 5, each member 91 is urged to the right by means of a spring pressed ball 103 bearing on one face of an interposer 105 fixed to the shaft 97 and is prevented from moving by a ball 107 bearing on the face of another interposer. For each angular setting of the shaft 97 corresponding to the delivery of a particular liquid a recess in one of the interposers allows the corresponding clutch operating member 99 and its ball 107 to move to the right and couple the appropriate meter to the shaft 84. The measuring apparatus, Figs. 1 and 3, comprises a chamber 11 adapted to be connected to suction through a valve 11a, and pipe 111 so that liquid is drawn in through an adjustable pipe 15 controlled at its upper end by a float operated valve (not shown). At its lower end the pipe 15 is connected with a multi-way valve 32 which is rotatable by a handle 41 (not shown) and shaft 37 so as to put the chamber 11 into communication with the supply tank of the liquid selected. A float operated locking device ensures that the valve cannot be rotated while there is liquid in the measuring chamber. The shaft 37 is geared to a shaft 49 which drives hexagonal drums 56 to indicate the brand or kind of liquid being dispensed and is also geared to the clutch operating shaft 97. The pipe 15 is vertically adjusted by a hand-operated shaft 17, pinion 18 and rack 19 and is held in adjusted position by a locking member 27. A pinion 22 on the shaft 17 meshes with a toothed sector 21 carrying a pointer 20. The quantity of liquid delivered is indicated by pointers 59 adapted to be driven by a spindle 57 and to be returned to zero by spring-urged toothed segments 79 geared to the pointers. When the measuring chamber outlet valve 13a is opened by a handle 62 operating through an eccentric 62a, a crank 64 on the spindle 63 of the handle acts through a connecting-rod 65, pin 75 and linkage 66 to drive the spindle 57 through a one-way clutch 67. The amount of movement of the spindle is made proportional to the quantity of liquid delivered by means of a connection 68 between the toothed sector 21 and the pin 75. The spindle 57 is geared to the shaft 84.
