Abstract

483,121. Hook adapters for bolts. LINDSAY, H. July 14, 1937, No. 19465. [Class 89 (i)] [Also in Group X] A hook adapter for bolts of the kind described in Specifications 411,400 and 461,953 is provided, instead of or in addition to the rigid depending abutment, with a spur or spurs adapted to contact with one member of the work and to bend when pressure is applied by the securing nut. The invention is described in connecton with the securing of flanged members 6 of different thicknesses to a bedplate 7, the adapter 4 being recessed at its upper part 8 to receive the bolt head 9 and, in the form shown in Fig. 5, having a single spur 11 which bears on the bed-plate 7 and bends when the nut on the lower end of the bolt 3 is tightened up. In the modification shown in Figs. 7 and 8, two spurs 11x are provided in addition to a rigid abutment constituted by a set screw 12. Fig. 10 shows a similar construction in which the rigid abutment is formed as a lug 12x integral with the adapter 4.
