Abstract

482,856. Electrolytic condensers. RADIOWERK E. SCHRACK AKT.-GES. June 28, 1937, Nos. 18001 and 18002. Convention dates, July 1, 1936 and Nov. 28, 1936. [Class 37] [Also in Groups XVI and XXII] The anode, and possibly the cathode, of an electrolytic condenser is made of etched aluminium at least 99À8 per cent pure, having a crystal grain size of less than À001 mm. This fine grain structure may be obtained by any known method. Aluminium in sheet of 2 mm. thickness may be rolled to À2 mm. thickness in one operation or, if in stages, no heating beyond a short-period annealing is allowed between stages. Tempering by transient heating not above 270‹ C. may be carried out, after rolling. Aluminium of greater than 99À98 per cent purity is preferred. Before etching, the usual oxide film is removed mechanically. With the purest metal, etching may be effected by a concentrated hydrochloric acid and a spongy surface of fine grain is produced which may extend throughout the thickness of the foil, the system of crystallites having then a fibrous form.
