Abstract

482,691. Driving - belts. WHITTLE, O. L. June 10, 1937, No. 16079. [Class 80 (i)] In a laminated V-belt composed of a series of overlapping strips 8, the strips are secured together by bolts 10 inserted from the underside of the belt, the bolt-heads bearing against washers 11 and the nuts 12 being screwed up tight on the outside of the belt. If desired, washers 12a may be provided also under the nuts, and may be pressed into the surfaces of the outermost strips. The invention may be applied to hexagonal belts. According to the Provisional Specification, the bolts may be replaced by pins with turned-over ends, split pins, headed pins turned over at one end, or rivets.
