Abstract
482,354. R÷ntgen - ray apparatus; exposure meters. I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT.-GES. June 19, 1936, No. 17082. Void. Convention date, June 20, 1935. [Class 98 (i)] Apparatus for measuring X-rays comprises a circuit including a galvanometer 5 and a light-sensitive cell 1 in front of which is arranged a fluorescent screen 2. Between the cell and the screen a lead glass plate 3 may be placed to intercept direct X-radiation. The galvanometer may be in series with the cell, or may be used as a null instrument in a compensation or bridge circuit. Various applications of the apparatus are described, including its use for switching off the ray-tube automatically after a predetermined exposure, and the use of two similar units, each receiving the rays through a different thickness of metal foil, e.g. aluminium, whereby galvanometer readings may be obtained which indicate the quality or hardness of the rays. In the second-mentioned application the cells may be arranged to send currents in opposite directions through a single galvanometer.
