481,109. Relief valves. SNELGROVE, E. C. Sept. 2, 1936, Nos. 23979 and 34400. [Class 135] In a relief valve opened by the upward pressure of sub-soil water beneath the concrete floors of tanks, baths, reservoirs &c. all the wearing parts namely a strainer plate f, a grid e, a valve seating d, a valve member c and two gauzes k, l rest in position solely by gravity and are readily accessible for cleaning or repair. The gauzes are located respectively above and below the valve to protect its seating from grit. The valve casing h has an annular silt channel o. The valve c may be of mushroom type as shown or of hinged or ball type. Its lift is limited by a boss b on an upper grid a which is positioned by locating pegs m. The strainer plate is held in place by a ring n which may be integral with the valve casing. The grid e has slots j and is rotated an eighth of a turn after passing lugs g.
