Abstract
In the production of lined screens on glass, a resist layer is applied to the glass, lines are scratched in the resist and a layer of metal deposited thereon, the resist being then removed with the over-lying metal. The exposed parts of the glass may be lightly etched before deposition of the metal. The metal may be deposited chemically or by sublimation. A suitable resist for the process comprises turpentine oil, Syrian asphalt, ox fat, solid stearin, yellow beeswax, and Burgundy resin. The lines may be subsequently intensified or toned. For example, silver lines may be treated with a mercury intensifier or a copper or iron toning bath, gold lines may be intensified with a solution of gold chloride and ammonium thiocyanate, and platinum lines with a solution of potassium platinochloride and lactic acid. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states that the process may be employed for the production of patterns. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
