Abstract
480,832. Linear - dimension gauges. AKTIEBOLAGET SVENSKA KULLAGERFABRIKEN. April 2, 1937, No. 9443. Convention date, May 29, 1936. [Class 106 (ii)] Comprises a snap gauge having one anvil provided with a plane gauging surface and the other anvil provided with a long substantially cylindrical gauging surface for maximum dimensions and a second gauging surface displaced from the former for minimum dimensions which surface is short in the direction of the axis of the cylindrical surface. The bend 1 of the U-shaped gauge is resilient and of the anvils 4, 5, the latter is a plane surface as usual, while the anvil 4 is formed with a cylindrical ridge 6 convex in the direction in which the gauge is applied to a work-piece and spaced apart from this ridge are one or two small spherical portions 7 for gauging a minimum dimension. The arms 2 of the gauge are connected by a stud 8 and nuts 11, 15, 12, 16 which are formed with spherical faces on one side to engage spherical faces on the bosses through holes 9, 10 in which the stud passes with clearance. A distance sleeve 19 of U-section determines the dimension. The gauge frame is made from a blank 6 which enables several ranges to be made from similar blanks by first varying the curvature of the bend and secondly using sleeves 19 of different length. The member 7 may be formed of two spaced spherical members. The shanks may be connected by a pivot instead of a resilient part and the high and low gauge may be separate or the high limit arranged on one side and the low limit on the other.
