Abstract
Liquid or solid hydrocarbons are coloured by dissolving therein a colouring matter obtainable by condensing one molecular proportion of a cyanuric halide with 1-3 molecular proportions of one or more polynuclear aromatic compounds, such as hydrocarbons or heterocyclic compounds. The products from 1 mol. of cyanuric chloride and 1 mol. of pyrene, phenanthrene, or chrysene colour benzene or benzine, a product from N-ethylcarbazole colours benzene, and products from perylene colour benzene, paraffin oil, and ligroin.ALSO:Liquid or solid hydrocarbons are coloured by dissolving therein a colouring matter obtainable by condensing one molecular proportion of a cyanuric halide with 1-3 molecular proportions of one or more polynuclear aromatic compounds, such as hydrocarbons or heterocyclic compounds. In examples, 1 mol. of cyanuric chloride is condensed in presence of anhydrous aluminium chloride with (1) 1 mol. pyrene in benzene solution; (2) 1 mol. phenanthrene in benzene; (3) 1 mol. chrysene in a mixture of benzene and nitrobenzene, or alternatively with N-ethylcarbazole or perylene; (4) 1-2 mols. of perylene in carbon disulphide; and (5) 2 mols. of perylene in nitrobenzene. It is stated that the products from 1 mol. of cyanuric chloride and 1 mol. of pyrene, phenanthrene or chrysene colour benzene or benzine, the product from N-ethylcarbazole colours benzene and those from perylene colour benzene, paraffin oil, and ligroin.
