480,350. Delivering measured quantities of granular and like materials. HICKS, G. A. June 19, 1936, No. 17092. [Class 106 (v)] Apparatus for delivering measured quantities of granular or like materials or for delivering Simultaneously two or more -such substances, comprises a plurality of hoppers such as 5, 6 controlled in pairs by a double valve member such as 8 reciprocable in a frame 7 by means of a cam 9 so that downward movement 'of the valves opens the hoppers to measuring chambers 12 and upward movement closes the hopper outlets and opens discharge apertures 14 of the measuring chambers. Reciprocation of the valve effects the operation of an agitator 15, 16. In order to vary the quantity of material discharged, the lower walls 13 of the chambers 12 are separately adjustable by means of members 29 and screws 31. Discharge of material from a hopper may be prevented by moving up the corresponding member 13 so as entirely to close its measuring chamber. The movement of the double valve 8 causes an oscillation of a pawl 23 driving a ratchet 24, to the spindle of which is fixed a pointer 26 which may be initially set in relation to a graduated dial 27 and a fixed stop 28 so that only a predetermined number of measured quantities may be dispensed with one setting of the apparatus.
