1,044,741. Delivering measured quantities of fluent solid materials. BURGESS ENGIN. EERING (STOKE-ON-TRENT) Ltd. May 19. 1965 [Feb. 22, 1964], No. 7480/64. Addition to 999,022. Heading B8N. An apparatus for dispensing a measured quantity of " filling " in a machine for making cakes or pies, comprises one or more measuring chambers mounted in a table 13 which is adapted to be reciprocated under the outlet from a hopper 11 for the " filling " material, the bottom or bottoms of the measuring chambers being normally closed by a movable closure plate such that in one position of the table the chambers are filled and in another position the closure plate is moved to open the chambers so that the " filling " is deposited on to a sheet of dough 10. The closure plate is guided in slides under the table 13 and is normally held by springs 151 in the closed position shown in Fig. 5 in which " filling " falls from the hopper 11 into the measuring chambers. Upon movement of the table under the action of a gear-and-crank drive mechanism 18, 20, 21 to the position shown in Fig. 4, levers 161, 162 connected to the plate and pivoted on the table are arranged to abut adjustable stops 17 thereby sliding the plate from below the measuring chambers and allowing the " filling " to fall on to the sheet of dough.
