Abstract
479,887. Making gilled tubes. BERG, A. J., and HUSE, J. O. Aug. 18, 1936, No. 22772. Convention date, Feb. 14. [Class 83 (ii)] [Also in Group XIII] A heat-exchange tube is provided with separate triangular-shaped fins 11 arranged spirally or in rings on the tube and bound thereon by a metal strip 12 the ends of which are soldered to the tube. The bases of the elements are kinked to increase the area of contact with the tube, and the sides may also be kinked. Further, the binding strip may be kinked. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, comprises also integral fins formed from a single strip of metal and bound to the tube by a kinked strip 12b, Fig. 3 (Cancelled), and also an arrangement in which the fins are formed from a strip of metal slit from opposite sides thereof to form the elements, the sides of which are bent up from the strip, and secured at its ends to the tube. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
