Abstract

479,589. Glazing roofs. AKT.-GES. FUR GLASINDUSTRIE VORM. F. SIEMENS, and SCHLOSINGER, J. July 26, 1937, No. 20600. [Class 20 (iii)] Glass sheets 3 are secured to spaced astragals 1 by a capping plate 4 having a depending rib 5 which projects into the space between the astragals, and is connected to flexible metal plates 11 whose edges are bent over and engage the lower edges of the astragals. The rib is provided with perforations 6 for the reception of wire loops 8 to which are attached hooks 9 carrying nuts 10 which bear against the plates 11. If desired, the hooks may engage directly with the rib. The under surfaces of the capping plate and the upper surfaces of the glass sheets may be plane, with flat sealing strips interposed therebetween, or, as shown, projecting beads 3<1>, 4<1> may be formed therein for the reception of packing cords 7<1>, which may be lead-covered, and for the prevention of lateral movement of the capping plate. Sheet-metal drains 13 for condensed. water are disposed below the members 11 and are provided with lateral projecting portions 13<1> by which they may be snapped into position.
