Abstract

479,053. Vaporizing - apparatus for blow-lamps. LEVIT, L. July 27, 1936, No. 20797. Convention date, July 25, 1935. [Class 75 (i)] A blow-lamp comprises a main vaporizer 13 feeding the main flame 20 and an auxiliary vaporizer for feeding an auxiliary flame 19 directed towards and heating the vaporizer 13, the auxiliary vaporizer being heated by a flame from a wick 4, and the working flame 20 being -directed oppositely to the auxiliary flame 19 and transversely to the wick flame. The main vaporizer comprises two tubular parts 9, 10 containing cotton or other absorbent material 11 spaced from the top of the part 10 by a distance piece 12, so as to form a vaporizing chamber with a sideopening or nozzle 14. The auxiliary heating device comprises a sleeve 2 sliding into a casing and containing a tubular wick 4, the upper part of which encloses a tubular body 5 closed at the top and with a side opening 6. A cord wick 7 extends through the wick 4 into the body 5, and a distance rod 8 supports the body 5 from the bottom of the casing 1. The sleeve 2 is adjustable axially, and enables the amount of the wick 4 exposed to be varied. The bodies 1, 9 are filled with spirit or other fuel. The wick 11 when ignited heats the top part of the tubular body 5, and so vaporizes the fuel from the wick 7. The flame 20 from the nozzle 14 impinges on the top of the tubular body 5. An igniter 29, and a cover 35 for the auxiliary vaporizer when not in use, may be provided. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, the distancing piece 12 may be dispensed with, and the tubular wick 4 may be wrapped around with absorbent material. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
