Abstract

477,890. Distributing music. STRAFFORD, F. R. W., and BELLING & LEE, Ltd. July 3, 1936, No. 18452. Drawings to Specification. [Class 40 (iv)] [Also in Group XL] A receiving arrangement for providing amplification over a wide band of very high frequencies comprises a number of separate channels fed from one or a number of aerials and each consisting of a frequency changing, amplifying, and frequency restoring stages, the outputs of the channels being combined and fed to one or more receivers. The frequency changing and amplifying arrangements may be located adjacent the aerial system, distant receivers being fed over separate lines for each channel or over a common line. Some lines may be connected only to particular receivers. Buffer amplifiers may be used at the input and output of each channel. A single oscillator may be used for the frequency changing and restoring stages of a channel and in a system using two channels a common oscillator may be used for both. When separate aerials are used for the channels, they may be directional. The receivers may, in addition, be fed from an aerial and amplifier receiving the normal broadcast band.
