Abstract

476,890. Centrifugal dust-classifiers. NORTONS (TIVIDALE), Ltd., and Mo- KEOWN, C. G. June 16, 1936, No. 16789. [Class 23] A cyclone dust-classifier has a tangential inlet 2 attached to the cylindrical part 1 above the conical part 3. The axial outlet pipe 4 communicates with an eccentric cylinder 5 having a tangential outlet. Plates 10 fixed to the conical part 3 are bent so that they project towards the axis as shown in Fig. 1, and project circumferentially in the direction of the gas rotation as shown in Fig. 4. The coarser dust particles are thrown to the walls while the finer particles are carried with the gas through the outlet pipe 4. Fine dust which finds its way to the walls encounters the plates 10 and is forced by them into the upward vortex. The upward flow is strengthened by air entering the adjustable valve 7 and passing round the double cone 8 at the bottom of the conical part 3.
