[Class 138 (i)] [Also in Group VI] A tray or carrier for holding cups, glasses, &c. comprises a rim or frame and an openwork bottom provided with sound-deadening material, e.g. rubber or rubber composition, formed to prevent the articles from coming into contact with one another. The resilient cup-positioning means may comprise pins 3a formed on a cross 3 which is secured to the openwork bottom so that the arms of the cross coincide with the crossing members of the openwork bottom. In order to facilitate the placing of a cup between the pins 3a, the centre part of the cross 3 is provided with a white mark 5. The arms of the cross are flat at the underside and converge on the tops, and are secured to the openwork bottom by screws nails or pins, or may be bound on with wire, the arms then having recesses to accommodate the binding wire. Each pin 3a may be formed on a separate arm and four such arms being assembled into cross formation. The pins 3a may be separate from the arms and secured thereto, or the arms may be arranged to shut against the pins. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 9, the article A<1> is positioned between four cross-like members having raised portions 3b on their arms 9. The vertical faces of the parts 3b which contact with the article, and the upper parts of the arms 9 may be convex or U-shaped. At the sides of the tray, twoarmed members are arranged. The trays may be provided with the usual cross-bars above the bottom, to steady and position the articles.
