Abstract

<PICT:0475742/IV/1> In the gaseous treatment in vacuo of wool or like fibres, means are provided for circulating the treating gas in the vacuum vessel. Wool 3 is introduced into the chamber 1 which is then evacuated. Chlorine or bromine is admitted through the perforated pipe 2, and a continuous circulation set up by the pump 6. Other means for obtaining relative movement between the fibrous material and the gas are: (1) mounting the material on a frame which is rotatable within the chamber; (2) rotating the entire chamber; (3) providing electrically driven fans within the chamber. Specification 417,719 is referred to.
