[Class 69 (iii)] A spray-producer more particularly for spraying waste liquor from paper manufacture into a furnace for the recovery of salts as described in Specification 475,416, comprises a supply pipe carrying a spreader plate for forming a flat spray, supporting means for the supply pipe and means for oscillating the pipe about its supporting means. The sprayer may comprise an elliptical spreading plate 5, Fig. 1, attached to a sleeve 7, enclosing a perforated plug 2 terminating in a jet 4. The angle of the plate 6 with the axis of the jet is between 48‹ and 50‹. The nozzle 10 is mounted at an angle on the pipe 20, Fig. 6, rotatably mounted in a sleeve 21 carried by a plate 22 pivotally mounted on a pin 23 journalled in lugs 24 carried by the furnace walls. The pipe is oscillated about its axis by a chain 31, Fig. 8, attached to a lever 30 and about the pivot 23 by a chain 41 attached to a lever 40. The oscillations are synchronously effected by attaching the ends of the chains 31, 41 to cranks driven by an electric motor. The relative amount of oscillation may be varied by attaching the chain to different holes in the arms 30, 40. Fig. 11 shows a modified arrangement in which an additional oscillation about a vertical axis is given to the pipe 30. In this form the plate 22a is pivoted in a U-shaped bracket 50 carried by a shaft 51. The shaft 51 rotates about a vertical axis in a bracket 52 and carries a lever 53 oscillated by a link 58. Vertical oscillation is effected by a lever 40a adjustably connected by a link 58 to a bellcrank 55 oscillated by a link 57. The links 54, 57 are connected to cranks driven by an electric motor.
