Abstract
133,697. Kaufmann, F. J. Oct. 9, 1918, [Convention date]. Bronzing and the like.-A powder blower, particularly adapted for distributing powder over the surface of a web of paper, textile or knitted fabric, &c., comprises a powder container 1 mounted on a base 2 and journaled by means of a fixed shaft 18 and rotatable air-supply pipe 10 in a bracket 12 fixed to any suitable part of a machine &c. A perforated plate 7 fixed in the container carries the lower end of the shaft 18 and allows powder from the container to fall into a chamber 3 in the base, the powder being swept over the plate by a brush slidably mounted on the shaft 18 and pressed on to the plate 7 by a spring 24. The sides of the chamber 3 converge to the air inlet 9 and nozzle 15, from which the powder is blown on to the web &c. The container is oscillated from any suitable moving part of the machine in connexion with which the blower is employed by a link pivotally connected with a slot 34 in an ear 26 on the container, the slot allowing the container and nozzle to lag behind at the beginning of the oscillating motion in each direction and supply an additional amount of powder to the edge portions of the web.
