Abstract
475,265. Looms with stationary weft supply. CRABTREE & SON, Ltd., D., and FELTON, W. March 14, 1936, Nos. 4622 and 25803. [Class 142 (ii)] Weft 5 which is inserted in the shed 6 by a reciprocating needle 3, passes on its way from the supply bobbin &c. 7 to the needle 3 through an eye 2 which is moved simultaneously with the needle, but at half speed whereby equal quantities of the weft are drawn from the bobbin &c. on the picking and return strokes of the needle 3. As shown in Fig. 1, the weft passes from the eye 2 to an eye 4, at the rear end of the needle. As shown in Fig. 7, the weft passes direct from the eye 2 to the eye at the front end of the needle, but is led from a fixed eye 15b in a backwards direction to the moving eye 2. The slide 2b carrying the eye 2 and the needle 3 are operated respectively by cables 8, 16 passing round pulleys 9, 17 on a shaft 10 oscillated by pinions and sector gearing 11. The diameters of the pulleys 9, 17 are in the ratio 1 : 2.
