474,144. Soles and heels. HEWSON, B. T. Jan. 23, 1936, No. 11035/37. Divided out of 474,071. [Class 17 (iii)] A detachable sole or heel consists of a plate a integral with or secured to the sole or heel and a plurality of pads f, h which together cover the sole or heel surface. The plate has a number of wedge-shaped apertures 11, each aperture having its apex towards the periphery of the plate and being undercut as at 12. Each pad f has a wedgeshaped, undercut, projection g adapted to fit into an appropriate aperture in the plate. The pads f are locked in position by the central pad h which has bevelled edges co-operating with the abutting edges of the pads f and is secured by a pin m engaging a spring-pressed stud n. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 399,472.
