Abstract

474,136. Implements for working land. CLAYTON, C. E. EVERY-. (Le Tourneau, Inc., R. G.) March 12, 1937, No. 7381. [Class 6 (i)] [Also in Groups XXX, X, and XXI] In apparatus mounted on a tractor, for raising and lowering any implement, a hollow top bar 11 arranged in the longitudinal axis of the vehicle and extending substantially the full length of the latter, is connected rigidly near its ends to members 8 which diverge laterally of the tractor but converge in the direction of the longitudinal plane of the latter so that they can be connected to common members 9 supported on opposite sides of the framing by axles 4 arranged approximately at mid-length of the vehicle. The members 8 as seen in end elevation in Fig. 2 have their lower portions formed vertically to clear the endless-track mechanism on the tractor. A tie-rod 18 maintains the framing in its set position. The axles 4 are formed on plates 3 secured to the tractor frame. The implement 7, for example, an agricultural or road-making implement, is carried by pivoted arms 6 which conveniently are pivoted at 4, the arms being raised and lowered by a rope passing round the pulleys 12 and 13 to form a tackle and then passing through the hollow bar 11 to a winch drum 16. The arrangement of the axle 4 at mid-length of the vehicle obviates tilting of the latter under the lifting strain.
