473,897. Cardboard &c. cartons. SATONA, Ltd. (Hartmann, C. W.) April 21, 1936, No: 11362. [Class 18] A container formed by bending or folding a rectangular sheet of cardboard &c., to form a prismatic body of polygonal section has its bottom constituted by similarly folded extensions 16, 22; 17, 23; 18, 24; and 19, 25, Figs. 1 and 2, of all the side walls, folding taking place about the lines 21 to form alternating single-ply and three-ply triangular sections, each extending from a vertex on the axis of the prisms to a side wall, a separate piece of material being secured by adhesive, e.g. glue or paraffin wax to the outer face of the bottom to hold the sections folded and to close the opening in the bottom. The distance a-b, Fig. 1, is not greater than half the width of one side of the container and the area of the triangles 22-25 is one fourth of the area of the bottom-forming portions lying above the folding line 11. The container and bottom-piece may be impregnated with paraffin wax which serves to hold the bottom-piece in position and this bottompiece may be rectangular, circular or oval.
