Abstract

Lubricants of increased oiliness and viscosity index and of lowered pour-point are prepared by adding to mineral lubricating oils about 0,1 to 1 per cent of the products described in Specification 463,014. These products or the lubricants compounded therefrom may be treated with decolourizing agents e.g. carbons silica gel, or clay. Examples illustrate the addition of 0,5 per cent of the various products described in the said Specification to "midcontinent" and "Atlantic red" lubricating oils. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 discloses the addition of 5 per cent. of the product made from crude red wax and stearyl chloride to "Atlantic red" lubricating oil. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
