Abstract

472,963. Escalators controlled by light-cells. FLOHR AKT.-GES., C. March 30, 1936, No. 9424. Convention date, Nov. 9, 1935. [Class 40 (iii)] Relates to the automatic control of escalators by means of a light - cell 5 connected to a valve 10 operating a relay 9 to charge a condenser 4 in parallel with a resistance 7 in the grid circuit of a valve 11 which operates a relay device to start and stop a motor 1 driving the escalator, the motor being started when a beam of light from a source 6 is screened off the cell 5, and the duration of the run being determined by the period,of discharge of the condenser 4. According to the invention, two relays 3, 2 are provided after the last valve 11, the first relay 3 operated by the valve in turn controlling the second relay 2, which operates the motor switch. The resistance 7 may be made variable, and the condenser 4 may be divided to permit adjustments of the period of operation. The resistance 15 in the cell circuit is also adjustable. The motor is fed by leads R, S, T ; and the leads S, T also supply the relay 2 and the transformer 12, which supplies the valves 10, 11 and a rectifying valve 13. Reference is made to Specification 408,996, [Group XXX], for a similar control of escalators, and to Specification 379,422, [Group XXV], for a similar control of doors.
