Abstract
394,842. Automatic circuit-breakers. BERTELE, R., 3, Stradone Duomo, Verona, Italy. Sept. 19, 1932, No. 25985. Convention date, Sept. 19, 1931. [Class 38 (v).] In a short time-switch for controlling electric lights, and having an electromagnet whose co-operating armature is adapted to close contacts included in the lighting circuit, and a heating circuit for an expanding member which controls the period of operation of the lights, the electromagnet is energized from a separate low voltage circuit under the control of a pushbutton switch. In the construction shown, energization of the electromagnet E, by closure of the low voltage circuit, attracts an armature a pivoted at o which thereupon closes contacts C, L included in the heating circuit of an expanding member D, and the main lighting circuit respectively, the armature being retained in this position by a latch lever e. The expanding member D then operates a lever b which first moves a holding latch g so as to retain contacts L closed, and subsequently unlatches the armature a so that the heating contacts C are opened. When the member D has contracted, latch g releases contacts L, and the lighting circuits is opened. In the event of overheating of the expanding member D, a second latch provided on lever e releases a safety lever s so that contacts S included in the circuit of electromagnet E are disengaged.
