472,508. Piston extrusion apparatus. MAGUIRE, G. A. Aug. 1, 1936, No. 21340. Convention date, Aug. 9, 1935. [Class 102 (ii)] In a container for dispensing paste a removable cartridge 26 is provided with a piston 31, through which a rod 29 is screwed. The piston rests on'projections 35 pressed in the interior of the cartridge. The latter is inserted in a casing 10 having a discharge passage 15 with an inward projection 24, which enters the discharge opening in the cartridge. Projections 37 at the lower end of the cartridge engage slots in the container, and the edge of the cartridge is gripped between the serrated edge of the container and a bevelled surface on the screw cap 39. An operating member 53, shaped like a propeller in order to permit operation in one direction only, and housed in a recess in the cap 39, has a recessed projection passing through a hole in the cap and engaging the rod 29. One end of a split ring 52 is secured to the member 53, while the other end rides over ratchet teeth in a recess in the cap. The piston 31 is formed with a recess 32, which receives the projection 24, and with a projection which enters the passage 15. The latter can be covered by a rotatable cap 13 having a flange which engages a groove in the container. The cartridge may be transparent, and can be inspected through a window 59 in the container.
