Abstract
472,300. Tennis &c. rackets. FRITSCH, C. Feb. 27, 1937, No. 5948. Convention date, Feb. 28, 1936. [Class 132 (ii)] The central longitudinal strings 3 are looped around a pin 6 secured in the forked end 7 of a tube 8 moved longitudinally in the handle 2 to vary the string tension by rotating a rod 11 threaded into the tube 8 through an end piece 14 pinned to the rod. The ends of the pin 6 engage longitudinal grooves in the racket handle 2 to prevent rotation of the tube 8, axial movement of which is limited downwardly by the tube engaging a washer 17 between the end piece 14 and handle 2 and upwardly by any suitable means. The stops limiting the movement of tube 8 may function so as to limit the positions of the tube in the handle whereby the balance of the handle may be adjusted. Indications may be provided on the tension strings, the tube 8 or the end piece 14 to check the state of tension of the strings, an aperture being provided in the handle if necessary to render the indications visible.
