Abstract

471,614. Photographic diazotype layers. SOKAL, S. (Kalle & Co. Akt.-Ges.) May 11, 1936, No. 13320. [Class 98 (ii)] Light-sensitive layers are prepared with the diazo compounds of p-aminodiphenyls having an etherified hydroxy group as substituent. The substituent may be in the same benzene ring as the diazo group and is preferably an alkyl ether group, although aralkyl and aryl ethers may be used. Two such substituents in 2- and 5-positions may be used and the second benzene ring may also contain ether or other groups preferably in 4-position, the numbering in the rings starting from the bond between them. In examples: (1) the diazo compound of 4-amino-2 : 5-diethoxydiphenyl, tartaric or boric acid, and, if desired, an antiyellowing agent are applied to paper and, after exposure, developed with phloroglucine and sodium acetate ; (2) the diazo hydrochloride of 4-amino-2 : 5 : 4<1>-trimethoxydiphenyl, tartaric acid, boric acid, thiourea, ammonium sulphate, and aluminium sulphate are applied to paper, a developer consisting of disodium phosphate, trisodium citrate, acid sodium tartrate and phloroglucine being used ; (3) the .zinc salt of diazo 4-amino-2 : 5-diethoxy-4<1>- methyldiphenyl, tartaric acid, sodium naphthalene trisulphonate, and sodium 1-naphthol-4 : 7-disulphonate are applied to paper and developed with ammonia gas or a solution of sodium acetate or bicarbonate ; (4) the diazo hydrochloride of 4-amino-2: 5-diethoxy-4<1>-acetylaminodiphenyl, citric acid, boric acid, ammonium sulphate, aluminium sulphate, and thiourea are applied to paper. A developer of phloroglucine, sodium acetate, and sodium bicarbonate is used; (5) the diazo chlorohydrate of 4-amino-2 : 5 : 4<1>-triethoxydiphenyl, sodium bisulphate, tartaric acid, aluminium sulphate, citric acid, and thiourea is applied to paper or cellulose hydrate foil, a developer containing phloroglucine and sodium bicarbonate being used. In place of the above, the diazo compounds of 4-amino-2: 5: 5<1>- triethoxydiphenyl or 4-amino-2 : 5-diethoxy- 4<1>-methoxydipheny-1 may be used; (6) the diazo hydrochloride of 4-amino - 2 : 5-di - nbutoxy-4<1>-ethoxydiphenyl, tartaric acid, and thiourea are applied to paper and, after exposure, developed with phloroglucine and sodium acetate.
