Abstract

[Class 68 (i)] [Also in Group XXVIII] A system for the automatic supply of liquid comprises a main reservoir 1 and a supplementary reservoir 6 having float or pressure means 33 for operating a switch 37 in the circuit of a motor 3 which drives a supply pump 2. An appliance 10 controlling the connections between the pump 2, the reservoir 6 and the points of consumption 8, contains a main valve 14, having a through passage which is controlled by an oppositely-opening supplementary valve 26. In operation, when the tap 8 is opened, fluid is supplied from the reservoir 6 past the valve 26 until the level or pressure in the reservoir 6 falls sufficiently to start the motor 3. Thereafter the pump 2 supplies the point 8 and the valve 26 closes. When the tap 8 is closed the pressure opens the valve 14 against the action of a spring 19 and the reservoir 6 is replenished. The tension of the spring 19 is adjustable by means of a renewed sleeve 16.
