Abstract

A wire of a copper alloy containing 8 per cent of tin, which may be used in the manufacture of screens for paper making, is formed by hot rolling a rod having the desired or a somewhat higher proportion of tin while surrounded by a tube of copper or a copper alloy containing 1 to 3 per cent of tin, a substantially homogeneous body then being formed by producing diffusion of the tin by annealing at 700 to 800 DEG C.
