Abstract

470,616. Preventing incrustation. WHIST, R. Feb. 16, 1937, No. 4658. [Class 123 (i)] In equipment for preventing the incrustation of ships' hulls in which insulated electrodes spaced on the ship's hull below the water line are connected to the positive pole of a source of direct current, the negative pole being connected to the ship's hull. The electrodes 12 are mounted in insulating shoes 13 which partly cover the sides of the electrodes as well as that part of the electrode which faces the hull 11. Cut-outs are included in the electrical circuits to interrupt the supply of current to the electrodes in the event of a short-circuit being established.
