Abstract

470,161. Wearing - apparel. FROOMBERG, A., and FAIRDALE, Ltd., J. Dec. 29,1936, No. 35607. [Class 141] The back portion 1, Figs. 1 and 2, of a jacket, coat, or the like is provided with a longitudinal slit 2 at each side, the slits 2 being covered by interior flaps 3 which are connected together by elastic strips 4 so as to allow the back portion 1 to expand. The strips 4 may each be secured to the middle of the back portion 1. In a modification, Fig. 3, a single slit 5 is provided at the middle of the back portion 1, and the inner flap 6 is connected to the sides of the garment by elastic strips 7. In another modification, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), the slit at the middle of the back portion is made wider, and the inner flap is stitched at its top and bottom edges to the garment. In a further modification, where the slit is provided at the middle of the back portion, the inner flap is attached to one edge of the slit so as to extend under the other edge, the free end of the flap being elastically connected to the garment.
