470,126. Delivering material from hoppers. SMITH, A. R. May 8, 1936, No. 13012. [Class 78 (i)] For delivering definite quantities of powdered, granular, and like materials from a shoot or hopper having mechanically-actuated discharging means, a controlling clutch is used to stop the actuation of the discharge mechanism at the completion of either a single revolution of the driving-shaft or a definite number of complete revolutions. In the form shown the worm e in the delivery spout of the hopper is driven by bevel gear k and a crank h from the shaft i, which carries a member m, Fig. 3, keyed thereto. Surrounding the latter is a toothed disc n geared to the belt-driven pulley l. On depression of the pedal x a stop z is withdrawn from the member v, thus allowing a spring w to rotate it clockwise and cause a corresponding rotation of a member s into a position in which it fouls the sleeve n and thus forms a driving-connection between n and the shaft i. When the pedal is released the member z again contacts the member v at the completion of the revolution of the apparatus then in progress and the member s is turned again into its inoperative position. The spring w may be replaced by a weight.
