[Class 146 (i)] In a loose-leaf holder or the like comprising clamping-members adapted to be held together by flexible members, such as cords, secured to one clamping-member and passing through the leaves or the like, and adapted to be secured to a second clamping-member, by the flexible members being passed through holes in the latter and being held in position by collars on the flexible members engaging recesses near the ends of the clamping-member, the retaining means on the top clamping- member are sufficiently resilient to grip the collars, and the recesses are undercut for the same purpose. The bottom clamping-member comprises a strip of wood b, Fig. 2, to which is secured a metal strip e ; the cords n are knotted at the end o and may carry a washer p over the knot, and are retained within holes f in the strip b by smaller holes f in the strip r. The upper clamping-member comprises a shorter wood strip a, and a metal strip g, and to the strip a are secured springy metal members h, provided with slots i and one or more spherically undercut recesses j. The cords n are threaded through the loose leaves c, and one or more collars q fixed on the cords near their ends are engaged with one or more of the recesses j. A metal sleeve r, Fig. 1, is fastened to the free end of each cord by forcing a spike t down the centre of the cord inside the sleeve ; the spike t may be used to perforate the loose leaves, scores on the members h being used to indicate the spacing.
