Abstract
469,193. Stove baffles. DARBY, H. G. Feb. 10, 1936, No. 3956. [Class 126] [Also in Group XIII] A water-heater with a gas or oil burner 1 has water tubes 7 carried by chimney walls 3 and by a deflector 4 depending therein at the top, the sides of the deflector diverging upwards from its lower part to deflect flue gas out to openings 11, 12. The continuous helical tube 7 is mounted in grooves 6, 8 on the outer surface of the chimney wall and on the interior of the deflector, which is V-shaped in crosssection. Plates 21 extend between vertical fins 19 on the rectangular chimney walls and vertical fins 20 on the outside of the deflector. A casing 13 has a flue outlet 14 at one side, with a baffle 15 over the deflector and a further baffle 17 extending down between the chimney and casing to lead away down draughts. The flue outlet may be at the top, a horizontal baffle being then placed in a canopy spaced above the chimney to deflect down-draughts.
