Abstract

469,009. Grinding-machines. CLAYTON, C. E. EVERY-. (Wotan-und Zimmermannwerke Akt.-Ges.) Dec. 11, 1935, No. 34393. [Class 60] On the completion of the coarse grinding operation in an internal or other grinding-machine a lever 2 carrying a feeler diamond 1 engaging the work operates a measuring pin 4 to complete at contacts 5, 6 the circuit of a relay 8 and thereby effects the closure of a circuit energizing a relay 13. The movement of the armature of the relay 13 turns a sleeve 34 on a shaft 35 to move the normal reversing stops 36, 37 out of, and a stop 38 into, the path of stops 41, 42 on the machine table. The stroke of the table is thereby extended to cause the grinding wheel to be moved past a trueing diamond. The movement of the armature also closes a holding circuit for the relay 13 and an energizing circuit for a relay 21. A holding circuit for the relay 21 is completed by its operation. When the trueing operation is completed a cam 16 on the table opens a switch 17 to break the holding circuit for the relay 13. The fine grinding operation then takes place and, when the work is ground to size, the measuring pin 4 completes at contacts 6, 23 the circuit to a relay 24 which energizes a relay 25 to operate the sleeve 34 to allow the work table to move to its end or work-changing position. A holding circuit for the relay 25 is completed by its operation. At the end position a cam 32 on the table operates a switch 33 to de-energize the whole of the circuits. The circuits of the relays 8, 24 are supplied with low tension current by a transformer 43.
